Telford & Wrekin Council Choose Phoenix Seating Again

After recently receiving 5 new minibuses installed with a range of Phoenix seats, Telford & Wrekin Council have chosen Phoenix again for its second batch of new vehicles to provide maximum adaptability to its replacement vehicle programme.

Telford & Wrekin Council recently received 5 new minibuses as part of a vehicle replacement programme. With a diverse range of services being provided by the vehicles, it was imperative that the seating could easily adapt to the needs of the minibus at any given time. Installed complete with a range of Phoenix Seating seats to ensure maximum flexibility was maintained for the vehicles, Telford & Wrekin have now placed the order for Phoenix to supply the second batch of a further 5 replacement minibuses to service the needs of the local area.

The Mellor Orion buses provide a variety of accessible transport services to a diverse selection of people in the community from education transport, social care, Dial-a-Ride services to specialist transport for children and adults with disabilities; vital requirements for the vehicles were accessibility, adaptability and safety to easily accommodate all passengers. With a range of easily adaptable seating ranges available, Phoenix quickly provided a solution to ensure the buses offered maximum functionality.
Blenheim Optimum Spacesaver - Passenger Transport Adaptable Seat

The 5 now in service buses can carry up to 16 passengers and are fitted with 10 practical Blenheim seats and 6 Blenheim Optimum Spacesaver seats helping to maintain maximum wheelchair accessible space when needed. Each Blenheim seat is fitted on removable fixtures to allow for easy reconfiguration of the seating depending on the requirement of the transport being provided and all seats are installed with the all ages seat belt to ensure best fit to all passengers and maximises safety on board.

Delighted with the new replacement vehicles, Nicola White, Transport Manager at Telford & Wrekin commented; ‘With a fleet of 49 vehicles, these new 5 Orion vehicles are the first new vehicles in 5 years and are replacements for vehicles taken off the road as they are no longer economical to maintain and operate. The additional 5 vehicles due over the coming months will provide further flexible transport to the community and the seating solutions easily allows us to accommodate to the range of passengers we carry which can range anywhere from 2/3 year olds through to the older generation.’

After discussing the vehicles and potential further solutions for the transport with Phoenix, Telford & Wrekin have not only been fully trained on using the Spacesaver seat but have been given tools to help the transport team to ensure the seats are maintained and used in a proper form, including instructions for drivers and attendants to be able to easily untwist seat belts themselves, which is a common occurrence in vehicles carrying child passengers. With the second round of vehicles recently been delivered in April, Telford & Wrekin look to continue to service the local community with easily accessible transport services.
