Old, worn seating requiring renovation New replacement seating, in line with the latest modern look of the fleet of vessels
Phoenix was approached by London based river cruise provider to replace 264 river boat seats for comfortable, practical viewing for its sightseeing cruise on the River Thames.
We have recently delivered a large quantity of seats for a river cruise vessel in order to provide sightseeing tourist customers with an ergonomic, practical seat whilst exploring the sights of the River Thames & its tourist attractions.
Looking to modernise its existing vessel, Crown River Cruises turned to Phoenix for a solution to provide a comfortable but practical replacement seating scheme. As a more unusual transport vehicle for Phoenix there were a number of new challenges that were to be faced. With buoyancy criteria to be acknowledged and adhered to, life jacket additions to be considered alongside the installation of the seating to be understood; the engineering team visited the customer to see the vessel in all its glory to better understand how Phoenix could help be the contemporary solution needed.
With Cruise Manager Ted remarking;
“From the beginning they were a delight to work with taking the time to discuss the project in depth on the phone and coming to London to survey the vessel in person. Despite our needs being a slight departure from their usual market they handled the project with ease from the time I first made contact to the time the seats were finally delivered.”
Following review of the existing seating it was quickly proposed the practical Blenheim seat was the sustainable option for the replacement seats whilst utilising the current bench framework structure for efficient installation. With some minor tweaks to the current Blenheim seating we supply, with regards to fixture points and the addition of life jacket compartments underneath the seats; Phoenix were able to schedule the manufacture and supply of the seats to suit the customer’s business downtime.
Straightforward delivery, alongside easy and quick installation of seats was a major factor for this project as the vessel’s full time location on the river means there is no direct access – therefore ensuring an efficient solution for installation before delivery was paramount for Phoenix. Ted & the team’s confidence in Phoenix’s diligence was reinforced when we offered a team to help with installation, however they had faith we have taken care in the dimensional requirements to fulfil a quick turnaround & positivity their service team could undertake the work.
Ted further declared “They took all our requirements on board, worked to our timetable and the seats were delivered on time. One of the impressive things was that all the seats fitted into place without having to make any modifications to the frames at all. In fact fitting them was so easy that our own staff undertook the work. We are very pleased with the finished result and vessel now looks like new again. I would certainly use Phoenix Seating again on any future projects and highly recommend this company to anyone considering such a project.”
